Pershing, John Joseph, "Black Jack" (1860-1948), American General, suppressed Moro uprising in Philippines (1913), commanded U.S. forces sent into Mexico to capture Pancho Villa (1916-17) but withdrew without success, commander of American Expeditionary Force in World War I (1917-1919), Army chief of staff (1921-1924). Selection of three autographed items: two ALsS, "John J. Prshing", both 1919 on A.E.F. - France letterheads to Washington, D.C., concerning the then-current whereabouts of two U.S. soldiers; also a small folder, 3¼ x 6¼ given out at a dinner in Pershing’s honor in Oklahoma City, Feb 10, 1920, with a small photo, 2 x 2½ below which Pershing has written "To Brooks Robertson, John J. Pershing". Very Fine.
