1881 from Corinto to Lime Rock, R.I. via New York, cover bearing 1869-71 5c. black (5) on thin white paper and 1879 25c. green (12), roulette 8½ tied by well struck "9 C" framed handstamps of Corinto, "New York Mar 12 81" duplex with "Due 5 Cents" for the steamship rate; some cover flaws including staining and opened on two sides, a Fine and rare usage.

Nicaragua was not a member of the UPU until May 1, 1882. As such, incoming mail would be required to pay the United States postage as a ship or steamship letter depending on the conveyance.
