ALS, Rome (Italy) August 6, 1855, 3¼ pp., 10 x 8", with integral address leaf showing Rome forwarded and Liverpool transit, to his friend Charles C. Perkins in Boston, who was a writer and art critic, the letter reads in part, "I shall not attempt to express my gratification while reading your approval of the Beethoven statue backed as it was by the handsomely expressed opinion of the Music Journal…", includes comments on travel plans and Beethoven, Fine and uncommon autograph.
