MAINE POSTAL HISTORY, Collection of about 65 covers and cards including a 1798 Narraguagas manuscript, to an 1814 York straightline on a folded letter proposing a tax on slaves to help pay the cost of the War of 1812, to an 1815 Free Frank of Wm Williamson the P.M. of Bangor who was a short term Governor of the state, and an 1893 cover from Branch, Me. to Bangor via three towns in Quebec and then Sandy Bay, Me. with all five backstamps (including Bangor). Also includes a few pieces of Maine ephemera. A clean and very scarce group.
