Confederacy, Black on yellow 11-star flag and verse patriotic cover (6, 7), to Martindale, N.C. bearing mixed issue double rate franking of 5¢ (6, 7) faults or defects, tied by "Petersburg Va./Dec 24" c.d.s. in blue, with original enclosure datelined "Army of Virginia, Dec 13th 1863" while at winter quarters near Fredericksburg with "no Yankees on the Rappahannock" but harsh weather conditions and nothing to eat except parched corn. Fine appearance.
