Hawaii, 1866, 5¢ blue (32), target cancel, matching "Honolulu Hawaiian-Islands Aug. 7" large c.d.s. on cover to Boston Mass. with U.S. 10c Green F. Grill (96) tied by circle of wedges, clear San Francisco c.d.s. and red "Hawaiian Steam Service" small oval struck at center; 5c with several short perfs and small corner crease from placement at edge, contemporary ink splatter affects Honolulu datestamp and may have been an attempt at deletion somewhere in transit since the Hawaiian postage is paid (another example of a cover with an incorrectly struck black c.d.s. was in the Advertiser collection, Lot 2231), Fine and very scarce mixed-franking.
