Miner's Coat of Arms, illustrated comic miner's cover published by Barber & Baker to Crowland, Canada, red "Marysville Cal. 15 Paid Sep. 4" c.d.s. struck twice, additional manuscript. "Oroville Aug. 30th/55" written vertically at right edge, red "United States Paid 6D" with manuscript. "9" written over 6, original enclosure is Hutching's California Scenes. The California Indians, James M. Hutchings, 1854, Sun Print, with 8 wood engravings by Anthony & Baker, 2 ½ page letter datelined "Lynchburgh Sunday Aug. 19th 1855" with chatty detailed letter from miner to his brother, instructions to send letters to Oroville; cover with tiny edge tears, lettersheet with small separations at folds, Fine and very rare, approx. 12 examples of this lettersheet are recorded.
