THIS IS THE UNIQUE DISCOVERY EXAMPLE OF THE 6¢ 1870 ISSUE MAGENTA COLOR VARIETY.
This color variety resulted from a mix of 49% 6¢ carmine ink with 51% 12¢ dull purple ink. It has been confirmed by spectral refractometry at the Argonne National Laboratory.
