1870, 24¢ purple with double grill (142 var.), horizontal pair, second grill clearly visible in fluid, particularly on the right stamp, perf separations skillfully reattached, some soiling and staining, few light creases (last not mentioned on accompanying certificate), Fine appearance.

THE ONLY RECORDED MULTIPLE OF THE 24¢ NATIONAL GRILL.

Expertization: 1959 PF Certificate noting double grill.

Provenance: Braus, "Lake Shore"

Accompanied by a 1957 note from Lester Brookman to Robert Siegel stating that this was the only multiple he had ever seen of the 24¢ National grill, but not noting the double grill. Listed but not priced by Scott.
