Documentary, 1871-72 Third Issue, 60¢ orange & black, center inverted, plate proof on card (R142aP4), large margins, Very Fine.

Expertization: signed Sloane with penciled position "50" on reverse.
All of these 60¢ invert proofs are lightly toned due to the fact that the original sheet of 85 hung in a frame on a collector's wall for many years. We did hear a report that some of these have been "freshened", but the present examples, and all we have seen are in their original condition.
