1862, 5¢ red brown (75), used with a 1¢ blue (63), bright handsome shades, each well tied by large "Paid" in grid of Boston on Nov. 1862 folded letter to Calcutta, paying the 5c British Open Mail rate + a 1¢ Carrier fee, British and Indian transits front & back, Very Fine. A beautiful and rare usage, one of the finest of all covers from the Goddard correspondence (with the usual intelligent contents from Nathaniel Goddard Jr.).
