China (People's Republic), 1976-77, mounted collection of 100 covers to the U.S. Liaison Office in Beijing following the establishment of informal relations, and prior to the opening of normal diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China; includes mail from foreign embassies in China as well as from the U.S. (a few via diplomatic pouch) and a small number of other countries; all is written up, much of it noting the various the methods and markings used for handling of mail to this office; includes some better frankings. A fascinating collection, which includes a copy of a 15-page article written by Jerome C. Ogden, a diplomat and philatelist, who assembled the collection while stationed in the U.S. Liaison Office; the article is profusely illustrated with covers from the collection.
