York Steamship, Jun 20" c.d.s. along with U.S. 10¢ green (68) on blue folded cover from Barbardos to New York via St. Thomas, endorsed "Dummett & Co., Barbados 8/6/67" at bottom; edge faults and soiling, Fine. Scott 2.

A SCARCE COMBINATION FRANKING TO THE UNITED STATES ORIGINATING OUTSIDE OF ST. THOMAS.

This letter was carried by Brazil Line steamer "North America" to New York. Overseas letters (except for the British Postal Agency) had to pass through the DWI Post Office with a prepaid rate of 13¢. The DWI stamp should have been cancelled by the DWI post office, one other cover from this same sailing was similarly left uncancelled. U.S. stamps were sold in the DWI post office from 1866-1875.
