States" with shield exchange marking and manuscript "10" due rating, black "6d" circled due handstamp indicating non-acceptance of Canadian postage, reverse with transits and "Perth, OC 28 1853" arrival c.d.s., with transit & receiving backstamps; cover with light wrinkling slightly toned at right; a Fine and rare attempted use of Canadian postage from the United States. Usage of Canadian stamps from abroad was officially prohibited. In this case, the regulation was enforced and the Canadian stamp was not accepted as pre-payment of the 1/2 ounce letter rate.
