Canada, 1859, Queen Victoria, 12½¢ yellow green (Unitrade 18), vertical pair and two singles, tied by squared grid cancels on mourning cover from Toronto, C.W. to New Westminster, British Columbia, "Toronto C.W., JA 29 '63" c.d.s., endorsed "Via New York", docketed on reverse as received Mar 18; insignificant perf flaws, fresh and Very Fine. Scott 18.

This cover was sent to New York, then by U.S. packet to Panama, Panama railroad from Aspinwall, then by packet to San Francisco and then to Portland, Oregon by ship, and finally by stage to British Columbia.

The 25¢ per ½ ounce rate was effective January 1862 to June 1864.
