AN ATTRACTIVE EXAMPLE OF THIS IMPORTANT TWENTIETH CENTURY RARITY.

Expertization: Weill backstamp, 1973 & 1997 P.F. Certificates.

Less than fifty examples of the Harding rotary press perforation 11 have been recorded. Although repaired and reperforated for aesthetic appeal, it is intriguing that this appears to have been the only straight-edge example in the Siegel census (Robert Zoellner sale catalogue, p. 325) for a photograph of the stamp in its original unrestored state), while Gary Griffiths records only two straight-edge examples (United States Stamps 1922-26, p. 191), supporting his theory that the sheets were cut into four panes before being perforated by the machines employed for the flat press.
