Bolmida Yokohama Japan" firm despatch cachet and U.S. Postal Agency "Yokohama Sep 30 Japan" origin postmark along with "Paid" framed handstamp, carried trans-Pacific where "San Francisco Oct 22" transit c.d.s. struck, then handled by the New York exchange office with "New York Oct 29" debit and "50" debit handstamp, plus blue crayon "2" indicating double-weight rating, blue Cherbourg (11.9) entry c.d.s. with matching "20" debit h.s., reverse with "Paris A Lyon 9 Nov 74" transit and "Lyon 10 Nov 74" arrival, various French mansucript ratings on front and reverse, Very Fine and choice usage.

A REMARKABLE AND UNIQUE STAMPLESS TRANS-PACIFIC AND TRANS-ATLANTIC USAGE BY U.S. MAILS FROM JAPAN TO FRANCE.

The usage of the framed "Paid" handstamp by Yokohama is vey unusual and is the only recorded example we have seen. There are also two recorded covers from the U.S. Postal Agency at Nagasaki that bear red "Paid" framed handstamps and have stamped frankings. This stampless usage sent through the mails without stamps is very unusual and unique.
