1873, 3¢ green (158), tied by purple "Randolph Mar. 11, 1879" c.d.s. on underpaid cover from Ohio to Tokyo, Japan, endorsed "via San Francisco" at bottom, New York (3.13) backstamp with circled "T" due handstamp and blue crayon "15" since the letter was shortpaid for the 5¢ direct mail treaty rate, "Due 7" handstamp (double difficiency due of 10¢ less credit for 3¢ postage paid), three Japanese 1 sen, 2 sen and 4 sen Kobans (Scott 56, 57, 58) were added as postage due stamps and tied by vivid red Xs, reverse shows and Yokohama (4.13.78) backstamps; reduced slightly at right, Very clean and attractive, Very Fine and quite attractive.
