1919, 2¢ carmine rose, type II, rotary coil waste (539), exceptionally well centered with bright, almost glowing color and pristine, never hinged original gum; fresh and choice Very Fine to Extremely Fine.
Scott $4,000+

AN EXCEPTIONAL EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 2¢ TYPE II, ROTARY COIL WASTE ISSUE, WHICH IS VALUED BY SCOTT IN THE GRADE OF FINE.

Expertization: 2000 & 2007 PF Certificates.

Provenance: Odeneal, Hoffman

The vast majority of the 2¢ Type II Coil Waste are very poorly centered, and truly well centered never hinged singles are truly rare. A glance at the PSE population report reveals the highest grade for hinged or never hinged is only an 80. This example certainly ranks as one of the finest extant.
