A STUNNING PATRIOTIC WITH A RARE DESIGN, MAILED TO GERMANY.

Magnus designs like this one are from a later period in the war when sales for all patriotics had fallen off dramatically; very few are known used (even the greatest of all patriotic groups, the Dr. Angell correspondence, had none from this Magnus series). A hospital pictorial was almost certainly part of the message being relayed by the sender; and to add to the Baltimore connection, this most likely sailed on the Inman Line's
City of Baltimore on Apr. 25, 1863.

Realized $7,000
