1863, 24¢ lilac, printed on both sides (78d), well inked impression of two stamps on reverse in an inverted orientation to the front, well centered and with 1861 manuscript year cancel, good color. Few small faults including patched tear, none of which are noticeable. Very Fine appearance.

ONE OF ONLY TWO RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THIS MAJOR PRINTING VARIETY, WITH THE REVERSE BEING NEARLY IDENTICAL TO THE OTHER KNOWN EXAMPLE, WHICH HAS BEEN LIFTED AND REPLACED ON COVER. THESE TWO ARE THE ONLY 24¢ OF THE 1861-68 ISSUES TO BE PRINTED ON BOTH SIDES.
