1851, 1¢ blue, type Ia (6), position 97L4 "curl on shoulder" variety, large margins, including part sheet margin at bottom to just in at top. Faintly cancelled (appears unused). Accompanying certificate states "minor surface scraping… and light toning" both of which are imperceptible. Otherwise Fine, a most attractive example of the rare Type 1a.
