Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919), 26th President of the United States (1901-1909), Vice President under McKinley (1901), handsome partially printed DS ("Theodore Roosevelt") as President, 1p, Folio, on vellum, Washington 26 December 1901, single light vertical and horizontal folds, light yellowing at upper right, bottom left corner clipped, matted, elegantly framed with portrait and plaque and glazed, not examined outside of frame and mat, with Laurence Galleries Certificate.

Nomination and appointment made by President Theodore Roosevelt of Channing E Delaplane as Second Lieutenant of Infantry, accomplished in another hand, with beautiful engraved vignette of eagle and thunderbolts at top and large engraving of crossed flags and military equipment at base, with blue War Department seal at bottom left, large bold "Theodore Roosevelt" signature and countersigned by Secretary of War "Elihu Root," Both Roosevelt and Root won the Nobel Peace Prize.
