Davis, Jefferson (1808-1889), Only President of the Confederate States, U.S. Representative and Senator from Mississippi, Secretary of War under Franklin Pierce, autograph cover addressed "For Mrs. Varina Davis, Augusta Georgia, 3¼" x 5¾" (Fortress Monroe, Virginia), additional address, also in Davis' hand "to Hon. J. Speed/U.S. Attorney General, Washington D.C.", also a pencil inscription in an unknown hand, was erased after rec by J.S., cover tear at left, light toning, Very Good. P.O.W. covers from Davis are rare!
