Davis, Varina (1826-1906), Second Wife of Jefferson Davis, the CSA's Only First Lady and was Her Husband's Personal Secretary, often writing and Signing His Letters, autograph letter signed "V. Jefferson Davis", three pages on two adjoining sheets, mourning stationery, 4"x6" Narragansset Pier R.I., Apr 9, 1891 to Miss Lanigan, in part, "Very sorry to hear you have been ill and wish you would come down to 'These Parts' and get a whiff of cool sea air." ".if you will (read) next Sundays World you will there see a review of mine. nothing to be proud of but is one of my pot boilers." Some abrasions on black borders, pencil notation in another hand, otherwise Very Good and clearly written and signed.
