Davis, Varina (1826-1906), Second Wife of Jefferson Davis, the CSA's Only First Lady and was Her Husband's Personal Secretary, often writing and Signing His Letters, autograph letter signed "Varina Anne Davis", 2 pages on two adjoining sheets 4½" x 7", no date, accompanying mailing envelope would appear to be mid 1890s, begins with "The name Daughter of the Confederacy was bestowed upon me by General John B. Gordon." and then she explains why she will not part with any of her husband's letters, light toning but quite legible, VG.
