Zook, Samuel (1821-1863), Union General, Killed in Action During the Battle of Gettysburg, rare autograph letter signed, "S.K. Zook, COL 57th NY", three pages on two adjoining sheets, 7¾" x 10", Camp California February 20, 1862, Zook writes to Dr. Samuel Oakley Van der Poel, Surgeon General of New York to request promoting Dr. McKim to full surgeon. he adds a postscript, and put his initials "S.K.Z." minor folds, negligible splits, fresh and Fine.
