Groves, Leslie R. (1896-1970), Officer in the Army Corps of Engineers, Oversaw the Construction of the Pentagon and Directed the Manhattan Project, the Secret Research that Developed the Atomic Bomb, a five pierce archive: a 1968 letter from Dean Acheson (Secretary of State under Truman), thanking Groves for his agreement on Rhodesia; another letter two weeks later, thanking him again, in part, "some of my former colleagues in the Department treat me like a peasant, but unpredictable old gentleman who has to be honored. You see through why you bring e comfort"; an editorial by Acheson with a framed note by Groves, "For once, I thoroughly agree with Dean Acheson"; a draft letter from Groves to Acheson, congratulating him on his Rhodesia stance; a small typed initialed "LRG July 6, 1970" note discussing his relationship with Acheson, written one week before Groves died. four of the items are stapled together (one staple) Wonderful insights into these two important Americans.
