New York, N.Y., 1845, 5¢ black on bluish, signed "ACM" (9X1), block of 4. Position 11-12/16-17, clear to large margins, each stamp cancelled by a single blue pen stroke. Even, all over toning and faulty, but reasonably attractive, unpriced by Scott.

THE ONLY OFF-COVER BLOCK OF FOUR RECORDED.

Only two larger multiples are known: a block of nine used with a strip of three on cover to Ogdensburgh, N.Y.- the so-called "Hasbrouck" cover; and an irregular block of six on cover to Buffalo, N.Y., last seen in the Lapham collection nearly 70 years ago.

[Italian States] Papal States 1867, Mixed franking cover from Rimini 15 Mai to Rome, with Italy 20c blue (upper right corner damaged upon opening) and Papal States 2b green-olive, tied by dotted numeral "134", "Rimini 15 Mag 67"c.d.s., 2b tax mark, backstamped "Roma 16 Mag", an extremely rare and important surviving combination cover. Sassone L 26, 3A; €100,000 ($110,000).

VERY RARE WITH ONLY 3 COVERS KNOWN.

Germany 1949 Berlin Buildings official trial printing on carton paper, the set of 20 values on large presentation card, comprising unissued 12pf dark gray blue, 15pf with inscription at top right instead of left and shadow of plane, 16pf dark blue-green, 20pf light blue, 24pf pale brown, 30pf red, 40pf carmine, 50pf violet ultramarine, and 1m to 5m in format of pfennig values, also 1pf, 6pf, 8pf, 10pf, 25pf, 60pf and 80pf in colors and designs as issued. A magnificent and exceptionally rare ensemble; the cornerstone for any exhibit or specialized study of this issue. Michel V1-13 and unlisted.
